Yesterday myself, as part of a group of Maryland Lawyers, helped sort and pack canned goods to be distributed to Marylanders in need at the Maryland Food Bank. From the MarylandFood Bank website:

According to the 2011 Census, there are more than 530,000 Marylanders living below the federal poverty level. To end hunger in Maryland, the Maryland Food Bank would have to distribute enough food to provide for 78 million meals annually to its service area (which does not include Prince George’s or Montgomery Counties).

In Fiscal Year 2011, the Maryland Food Bank distributed more than 23 million pounds of food.
